Rod Mitchell, founder of RAM Companies, began his real estate career as an architectural designer in the late 1970's. His start began with crafting the layout and look of homes and commercial buildings. Seeing opportunities to build as well, he began general contracting and building apartments, houses and eventually a few commercial edifices during the 1980's. He gradually began offering to design, build and develop homes, which brought him much success.

During the housing slump of the early 1990's, Rod decided to diversify more into commercial projects. His business really began to take off when he offered design-build packages in his commercial projects.

With the emergence of the rapidly growing Roseville market, Rod saw opportunity there and relocated his offices from Sacramento to Roseville. He shortly began working on his first office park development, Lava Ridge Professional Center, where he knocked on doors of potential Tenants until he had gathered enough of them to begin construction. The project was so successful, he was able to build the rest on spec. Ultimately, he completed Lava Ridge Professional Center, Eureka Centre, and Eureka Centre II.

Rod is now a successful office developer in the greater Sacramento area. He heads RAM Companies; RAMCO Contractors, Inc.; RAM Management Inc., his property management firm; and R.A. Mitchell Properties, his development firm.
